New Computer
I just got this comp. about a year ago, anytime I go out and get a PC game it is always choppy and the game shuts down and everything else that can go wrong.
My computer Stats:
Emachines Windows XP
2600+ AMD Anthlon XP Processor
80 GB Hard Drive (Ultra ATA 100)
CD-RW/DVD
Media Writer (6 in 1)
512 MB (DDR for optimized performance)
3D S3 ProSavage8 (Available AGP slot)
Does this sound like a good computer or is there something wrong.

Re: New Computer
Errr...please clarify. You say you just got this PC, or you got it just a year ago?
Anyways, since all of your hardware seems pretty up-to-speed, you should try opening up your PC case, dusting out, and checking each of the fans to make sure they're properly spinning and cooling your PC down. You should also try dusting out the heatsync on top of your CPU to make sure that's working right.

Re: New Computer
I got it about a year ago but it is practically new. I know it can't be a virus because I use my scanner every week.

Re: New Computer
It's not going to be a software problem unless your graphics drivers aren't up-to-date. I still say you should try checking the fans and cleaning out your PC box.

Re: New Computer
Red you have two problems.
1) It is an e-machine so it was built cheaply. Which leads me to the second problem.
2) You do not have a graphics card. This is the reason your games are choppy. The 512 memory is being shared to be used with the on board graphics. On board graphics on the motherboard will not run most games today.

BZZT...WRONG.
Seriously, go get yourself a real graphics card, and not some onboard ****, it will fix all your problems.

Re: New Computer
I guess I was right that it was a graphics card, but I didn't think to look into how good it was. Zyklon is right, never go with the onboard gfx cards. You need a powerful Radeon 9800 or something. I guess I should've suggested that when I didn't recognize the brand name.
Oh, by the by, make sure you get the one for your AGP slot. The AGP slot is specifically designed for the graphics card, while the PCI slots could be used for other things.

Re: New Computer
i go with onboard sound but thats about it, thats only because sound ist as important and doesnt drain a lot of power. on board graphics are no good, they drain your cpu and ram.
