Re: Please Help!!!
Mmm, your computer sounds pretty dead, the problem with something like this is it's too hard to diagnose what's wrong with it because it could be one of many problems.
It could be a problem with your motherboard/ram/cpu/hard-drive and a lot of other things. Your best bet is to take it to a professional and see what they can do.

Yeah, under $5 I'd imagine, but unless you know it's definately the power cord, I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

Re: Please Help!!!
Most likely, if the computer doesn't even turn on, (the light in the front doesn't even light up), then there is a problem with your power supply or your power cord. Make sure it's plugged in properly, and if it still doesn't turn on, you might need to have somebody open it up and look inside. Maybe the fan in your power supply stopped working and then your power supply overheated. That would be a very bad thing.
But, as Zyklon said, there could be a million different things wrong. I just think it's most likely a problem with the power supply.

Re: Please Help!!!
Does the computer beep when you switch it on? With some PCs you can tell by the beeps what's wrong with it...

Re: Please Help!!!
Normally one beep is a good sign, showing the PC is working properly. Different beep patterns mean different things. Look in your PC's manual (or motherboard manual) for what the patterns mean... I hope this helps.

Re: Please Help!!!
Your PC is built around a "motherboard". It's the main part that holds the CPU, memory, graphics card, etc. Everything is connected to the motherboard.
Look for anything relating to the motherboard or Bios. Here's a web page that may help. Bios Codes
I think the beep codes are different for each motherboard though, so you'll need to know what make and model yours is... It may be worth doing a seach on the net for bios codes if this page doesn't have the right one for your motherboard/bios.

Re: Please Help!!!
A manual for your motherboard which you should have got with your computer when you bought it. Have you got a brand name computer or just a custom built one?

Re: Please Help!!!
Since he doesn't know what the problem is, I'm betting brand name.
Keep in mind that there are multiple fans on a computer. There's at least one for the CPU and one for the power supply. The more fans, the lower chance of your computer melting. Since your computer turns on, you know that your power supply is working. Now we've gotta find out what else is messed up. Maybe your hard drive isn't plugged in right or something?
Make sure all wires are properly and securely plugged in, and if it still doesn't work, take the whole thing in to a professional.

Re: Please Help!!!
Um you are going to have to pay someone the £40.00. You said it was making a buzzing sound, which is not good, and it is not a beep. I believe as others have said here it is your power supply. The buzzing sound may be the power supply trying to turn on and failing. I would tell you to go buy a new power supply and hook it up yourself, but then you would have to know where all of the power leads go, and it still may not fix the problem. Nothing wrong with paying someone to fix your computer.
