How much did you pay for it? What's your sound card?

Hrm....about your OS, though. I would've gone with a dual-boot between Windows XP and Debian, simply because there are some things you can do in Windows that you cannot do in Linux...like play my favorite online game that I've been paying to play for almost a year now. And I've heard good things about Debian, so...yeah.

But, a 2thumbs on the hardware man. I wish I could get something that good, even if all I got was the gfx card...mine sucks.

What do you exactly mean by modding my case?

My price at the moment is AUD$1400; but will dramatically drop just after Christmas. The sound card is on board.

I did some studying on the OS, and Fedora Core more suits my needs than Debian, but after that I might go to Gentoo. I was strongly considering dual-booting with XP, but heaps of people have tried that and couldn't log on to XP. A problem with the kernel or something...

But yeah... I agree with you on the hardware! It's gonna be mad when I get it; and the CPU doesn't sound like much, but it's the same one the creators of Star Wars Episode II used...

Plus, when combined with a 433MHz motherboard, it's pretty mean.

Unfortunately I don't have it yet. As I mentioned earlier, I am getting it just after Christmas when the prices drop (about $20-$40 per item), and Fedora Core 3 isn't released until November anyway -- and that's if it's on schedule.

I'm not actually getting it from anywhere; but I have a friend with a supplier, so it's a lot cheaper that way

Very nice @ndy. I just ordered the parts for my new PC. My P4 2.26 just wasn't getting the job done, so I had to upgrade. Will post the specs soon.

I've used both Macs and PCs for years, and I'd always go for a mac now - without any hesitation. Nothing could tempt me back to Windows. Ever.

More disk and ram? 250 for hd should be enough for pretty much anything, and a gig of ram is more than enough, especially in a mac, they work different so that is a lot for a mac, and would be about the most you would use on any sort of regular basis.

The only thing that would need more than 250GB of hard disk space is saving *a lot* of digital video onto the HD, which I don't do. The memory isn't a problem either, even with a lot of apps/games running at the same time.
