Need opinions on wireless cards.

Hi, I was looking for peoples opinions on external and internal wireless cards. I can't seem to find much info on the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.

I have a external one but am considering puting in a internal one or getting my next laptop with a internal one if it's worth it.

Let me know if any of you have preferences and why.

I have an external card as well. The only disadvatage that I know of for the internal card is they typically have a shorter effective range with the wifi spot.

Yeah I figured that was the main difference. That and of course the fact a external one is external.

Well since that seems to be about it then I think I will stick with my external one.

Well, unless you really really really must have a laptop and it must have an internet connection wherever you can hook up to a Wi-Fi terminal....don't do it.

Then again, I'm currently only familiar with internal wireless cards for PCs...and lemme tell you, it was the biggest computer mistake my parents ever made next to my mother getting a laptop that she never bothers to travel with. Wi-Fi = unreliable connection in my book.

Well I'm already using a LINKSYS Router with a wireless card for my Dell Inspiron 8500.

I am sitting on my couch as I type this actually. Wire free computer and wireless mouse.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

I was just wondering if the internal one had advantages over my current external one.

i have two..internal and external
i have a linksys wireless card in my PC and for my other i have an external linksys wireless card.. the one thats for the PS2 and Xbox
it works pertty good
