Tactics arena online is a massive online multiplayer game involving difficult tactics, strategy and unthinkable situations. It uses the perfect balance of luck, skill and deception to make it an all around awesome game.
The plot is simple. It combines chess and age of empires. You, being an overhead being, control an army of 10 units on a battlefield. The object is to use you 10 man army to destroy the other mans/womans 10 man army. Like chess, there are specialized units, such as the basic knight, who can attack one adjacent square. but there are other units, liek the scout, allowing long range attacking.
Every unit has their own stats. Some with higher areas then others. For instance, a knight has 50 health, compared to a scouts 40. a knight does 22 damage compared to a scouts 18. knights have 80% blocking from the front (40% from the side) compared to a scouts 60% (30%). Some units are unblockable. Some units use magic to deal damage or help restore life. Magic attacks are the attacks cannot be blocked using fire or dark magic to deal damage. the cleric uses his turn to heal life.
The turns are simple. you may move, attack and change direction fo one (1) single unit in one turn. You may also choose to pass.
The setup is in a lobby. There are nine floors inside the lobby each floor housing indiviual squares where games are played. simply click a square and wait for an opponent, or be the person to join into a waiting persons game. In the lobby, there are chats always happening, creating a much better community and allowing there to be pre-arranged games if you choose to "challenge" someone. Once in a game, the person who goes first is randomly selected.
To change your formtion, go into the yellow box labeled "settings". There, you can move around the places of where your ten units will start on the battlefield for a fight.
If you win you games, your stats will be boosted! Sats are the rating in which your screen name is. Everyone starts at 750 stats, and when you win games, the stats increas, setting your goal to make that top 100 listing posted in the rankings.
To the general public, this game if FREE! thats right absolutely free. If signed up, you will recieve a grey name and recieve basic fighting units.
If you love this game as much as i do, you will decide to upgrade to a gold account, only 5$ a month. With a gold accoutn you recieve more units, such as dragons and golems, and are allowed better chatting abilities in the lobby, not having to wait to type your next text.
Also to enhance the game play gold members are givin the ability to create clans. this allows a group of people, in the same clan, to battle each other without risking stats. it also can provide bonds between players creating pride in the way you play the game. Clan members are a good way to learn how to play.
There are 3 servers to select you gameplay in. There is also the 4th gold accoutn server onyl for the gold players. The difference in the servers is small, though some think the skill level differs. They just provide more poeple to be playing at once. they are Banff, Great Lakes, Armegeddon, and the Gold server, Revelation.
This game is all around awesome and is by far myfavorite game on the internet. I recomend the gold account, but more then that, i recommend trying it out. Out of 10 i give tactics arena online a 9.6 for outstanding gameplay, great social communication and all around fun. The graphic arent everquest, but the game is so fun, you wont even notice.
