Sony and Nintendo used to work together before they made PS and SNES???

I never knew this. If you read the article about halfway through they go into the history of Square and Enix and mention this.

I already knew this. It's the whole reason for the Playstation being termed the PSX. The PS actually refers to the one that Nintendo and Sony worked together on, the first console to use CDs instead of cartridges.

Sounds like another mistake for Nintendo to me. Breaking off at the time with Sony. They should of paid the money to keep Sony around. There might have been one less competitor for Nintendo today and they would be top dog. And I think according to the article I posted it was the SNES CD they were working on. Sony went to Phillips and then developed the PS. Nintendo dropped the cd idea and went with the SNES we now have.

Well I am glad they broke off ties to each other back for PS1. Now look there is more compition and the games are great for each console. Besides having more products to choose from is usually the best way to do it when they are both competeing for your buisiness.

Choose Nintendo of course.

Of course, think if all the people that worked on the Playstation and X-Box consoles and made games for the other consoles instead worked for Nintendo on their console. The Nintendo console would be extremely powerful, more powerful than all of today's consoles put together, and the games would be as such, and there'd be no problem with fanboys because there's only one console and everybody would be happy. I think those were the golden days, back when Nintendo was the only console-making company.

Yeah it was nice back in the day when Nintendo was the only one around and you didn't know there could be better stuff.

. Really though you wouldn't know how good something was if there wasn't something to compare it to. Besides we would still probably be using cartridges ;) . I actually read somewhere that video games are still in the dark ages, a simile would be if like video games today would be like a black and white televsion in the 1950's compared to the suff they can do in movies now with digital images and such. If that made sense

Yeah, I've noticed that too. It's why it's so much better to get a PC and mod it to be the ultimate gaming machine then to get a console, because the consoles aren't made with top-of-the-line stuff. I still think that if all the gaming firms were to merge into one, it would be a big improvement. Partly because there's nothing to compare it to and say that it sucks, but more because all the big brains and the technology and the big money-spenders would be able to work together on the consoles.

Only console making company? Did you forget about Sega? The were around for most of the time that NES was if I am not mistaken. Like Sega for NES, Genisis for SNES, and then Dreamcast for N64.

Well when Nintendo was released in '85 the compitition was Atari (7800)? And Sega had something called the Sega Home System or something like that at about the same time. I don't think any of us owned it so I wouldn't count it as compitition. Atari was done after Nintendo was released for the most part. I think geneisis came out 1990? and lasted about 3 years then was gone. After that was the Saturn and then the Dreamcast which neither took off. So really until Sony came out with the PS in 1995 Nintendo never had much for compititioin.

But yes technically you are right there were 2 other consoles out there. Sega and Atari...OH and the Commodore forgot about that one almost. That was before the PS.

Can you believe it's been like 15 since Gameboy came out. 1989. And Atari had the Lynx at the same time. Don't think I ever even saw anyone with one of those.

Yeah I remember when Atari was out and I used to go over to my next door neighbor's house to play it. I have seen Lynx, but never played it myself. I am glad there are more handhelds coming out, since Nintendo has been sitting pretty and slacking a bit on the quality of games. BTW I did own a Sega Master System, and the Genisis, even have the very rare adapter that lets you play original sega games in the genisis.

Sega wasn't that bad, they've made some great games, but they were never any real competition. Nintendo are the ones who brought the concept of the gaming console back to life.

Yeah Nintendo kicked a** back then. I couldn't wait to play it when I would get home from school. Dragon Warrior was my favorite back then. I thought it was so much more dark than FF, I like dark games. Actually Kid Icarus was my favorite, or Wizards and Warriors, maybe it was FF.

unreal...I just cleaned out our laundry room and found....MY NINTENDO 64!!!!

...I forgot I had it still. lol In the box I bought it in and everything. I packed it up when I bought my PS2 like 4 years ago. I loved the Star Wars game on the Shadow of a Empire I think it was called.
