Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Konami and Nintendo announced today in Japan the official title and premise of their upcoming GameCube stealth/action title, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Surprisingly in development at Silicon Knights, the group responsible for Eternal Darkness and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, MGS: Twin Snakes is a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid. The graphics engine will be completely rehauled for the release, but the plot will be the same. Both Shigeru Miyamoto and Hideo Kojima will oversee the product to insure its quality.
None of this, with the exception of the Silicon Knights relevation, should come as any real news to GAF readers. If you've been with us for a while, you'd know that we let you know this way back in December. What's more, we informed you of the official title and release date from EBGames's website a few weeks ago.
To reiterate, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is due out this November in North America. The game will certainly be on display at this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, and GAF will be there. Deja vu. We've got you covered.

Probably most people use stand alone DVD players to play DVD's, because a dedicated player has better playback. That's fact.
I'm not saying the DVD playback is poor on any particular console, but head-to-head with a standalone player it's not as good.

My friend tried to play U-571 on the PS2 and it got screwd up so if you want to play a DVD buy a DVD player.

I don't think it's actually moving across as such, I think the GC is getting a one game exclusive.
I doubt Sony would ever let go of the licence completely, it's one of their best sellers for the PS2.

Nintendo of America announced that Konami would publish a new Metal Gear title exclusively for GameCube. The title, called Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, is in development not by Konami, but rather by Canada-based second-party Silicon Knights. Shocked? Keep reading.
Twin Snakes, more or less a total remake of the PS1 game Metal Gear Solid, has been under development by SK for a considerable amount of time, and the company has worked hard to up the graphics presentation of the title so that it more closely resembles the recently released next-generation Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. In fact, it's said to look even prettier. The title will ship later this year in the US and Europe and early 2004 in Japan.
Silicon Knights is re-creating the game under the guidance of Konami's Hideo Kojima and Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto.
"I am tremendously excited to introduce a unique Metal Gear Solid experience to a new audience of gamers as well as collaborate with my mentor in game design, Mr. Miyamoto, on Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for Nintendo GameCube," said Hideo Kojima, vice president, Konami Computer Entertainment Japan.
"Mr. Kojima and I have spoken about this project for some time, and I'm excited our ideas have matched so perfectly," added Shigeru Miyamoto, senior managing director of Entertainment Analysis and Development Division, Nintendo. "It's this shared passion for game creation that has allowed us to collaborate to bring a special Metal Gear project exclusively for Nintendo GameCube."
Nintendo will show the game in fully playable form at its E3 2003 booth later this month.
