suggestions?
while mg was down for the server switch, i thought of another improvement we could make. as mg is not a mind reader (i think...) we need to verbalize any improvements we wish to see, so i have made a thread specifically for that. here's to you mg! 
here's my suggestion. make an option to have the shoutbox or certain other features viewable as a java applet so you don't have to continually refresh the page. it would automatically appear when posted. but make it an option for the sake of the people who don't have java

If you made in a Java applet, then isn't it pretty much a chat instead of a shoutbox?
And also, Windows XP does not come with Java Virtual Machine installed (because of sun java sueing microsoft), so not all members will be able to use it...

and that's why it should just be an option, so those who don't have java can use it as it is now.

Well, its more spreading a message across to many people, that is directed to everyone (usually), (thats why a forum is also called a message board), forums are also able to be moderated better then a chat, because of the delay between posts, and not everyone has to be online at the same time to be able to communicate with each other...

i was actually thinking of almost exactly what we have now, where the messages stay when you aren't on line and you can access any messages from any time at any time, but where there is no delay and the new messages appear instantainiously. monitering could be simplified by warning and banning questionable posters

I agree, the web page would take a lot longer to load, even if you have a fast conection, because of all of the archives in the chat box.

it is best like this
we the staff (admins, super mods, mods) have way more control over what goes on like this
the shoutbox, i cant make it have auto refresh option
all tho it is not hard to push the refresh button
any one else have an idea or some thing i can change?
