Fallout 3 Banned in Australia

I'm not a big fan of Fallout series which i haven't played it before. However yesterday, OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) decide to put Fallout 3 as RC (Refuse Classification) before it gets release at the end of 08 because of in-game drug use.
However, i'm not happy that the australian government don't accept R18+ rating to Australia still and if they not approved R18+ in Australia soon things will get terrible at some future games that has strong violence with blood gore, drug use, and sex scenes. They already did that with Dark Sector and Shellshock 2 recently.

Fallout III is one of the most anticipated PC games for me, that's horrid. Some countries still haven't adjusted (grown up, or grown a pair) to the video game culture.

Is it illegal to have the game in Aussie, or can you purchase it from another country and have it shipped?

I'm looking forward to it on my ps3 lol but first want to see gameplay. Just I hate games that get banned anywhere... what's the damn point?

I don't think it's illegal to import but i never import games yet, some people got GTA4 uncut from overseas since Australians got cut version.

Dark Sector was banned due to high in-game violence, but last week Digital Extremes decide to fix in-game violence for Australian gamers and it approved with MA15+ rating last week. I don't know when Dark Sector will be released here, it could be soon.

Crazy censorship - I'm not a huge fan of this series but if I was an Aussie I think I'd want to buy the uncensored version all the more for them telling me I couldn't.

Apparently there's a rumor that Fallout 3's developer (Bethesda Game Studios) could developed a edited version of Fallout 3 for Australia but OFLC will check edited Fallout 3 again, if it's pass it will be on sale the end of this year as MA15+ rating. That news were discovered by some employers from few major gaming shops like EB which they already started pre-order copies for Fallout 3 again since last week. Lets hope Bethesda Softworks and Australian distributor Red Ant will announced Fallout 3's return soon.

Would suck having the toned down version of fallout III.
Fallout series is made to be a kind of black humor, violent comedy.
Cutting out all the make up of the game.
The story and gameplay will still be amazing though, as well as the atmosphere.

It's official!!
Fallout 3 edited version has been approved by OFLC that means it will be coming to Australia this october.
That means Bethesda Game Studios will only edit drug parts for release down under (for now?).
I had to say it's great news that it has got another chance to bring Fallout 3 to Australia, lets hope australian government approves R18+ rating sooner or many big future games that has similar content will easier be banned or edited under government classification rules.

Ugh, its good that you guys are atleast getting the game, but its utter sh*t that they are cutting everything out that is good and original about the series.

Fallout is built off the sick, twisted, apocolyptic, dark humor it has.
What you can do to survive, and interact with people. The fact you can do "Anthing" to "anyone." Honestly, it will still be a good game, but that just ruins it.

Hopefully you guys get that no M+18 law removed soon. What with, how gaming is ripping its way into mankinds culture with the same impact that the invention of television and indoor plumbing had.
