GTA will have 15 Multiplayer modes
GTA's multiplayer modes have been revealed in a Spanish magazine.
Quote:
* There are 15 multiplayer game modes in GTA IV. PSM had an opportunity to play 7 of them. The rules of each game are determined by the host.
* Multiplayer supports upto 16 players.
* Your online character is fully customizable. You can alter his race, sex, hair, clothing etc.
* The game modes featured are as follows:
1. Hangman's NOOSE
2. Car Jack City
3. Bomb da Base
4. Bomb da Base II
5. Mafia Work
6. Team Mafia Work
7. Deathmatch
8. Team Deathmatch
9. Turf War
10. Cops N Crooks
11. Race
12. GTA Race
13. Deal Breaker
14. Free Mode
15. ????

That's why the whole game was delayed. One of the main reasons at least.
They had to create a whole new character design/custom style for a player to create and adapt to. As well as online world.
The main character is completely its own, you can't change his appearance.
These different modes sound very interesting. Already have the game reserved

I really really hope these modes all support local multiplayer as well as over the net. Death Match with a couple of Friends in GTA would just be amazing, especially if you can play across the whole city as is indicated by:

I'm sure they will.
Hopefully you'll be able to edit boundaries and what not. Across the whole city would be chaos. Depends on how many people though.
The other game modes sound promising, in that their different.

No, or yes.
The amount of people one match could support, through the entire GTA world, hopefully a lot. It really all depends on how rockstar does this.
I'm really anticipating seeing this all in action.
