Do Wii need one?

I, myself, have saw a bit of improvement of the Wii's graphic department (maybe?). I'm thinking about getting a Wii, or making my parents get it for me on my birthday. I have criticized the Wii a lot about it's graphics and all that, but then I thought to myself, "What's gaming without the fun?", when I have tried the Wii I've had lots of fun and didn't think about the graphics.

If I do one I'll probably get Super Smash Bros Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy first. I was actually thinking about getting, along with the games, the wireless sensor bar. Does the wireless/cordless sensor bar work well? Or does it just suck big monkey *****

PS: My birthday is on April the 24th!

I was exactly the same as you in regards to graphics, but honestly I think all the games with descent graphics have lost the fun element in games. Which Nintendo have tried to reclaim with the Wii. Basically you have to make the choice of being a Hardcore gamer with your 360, PS3 or a casual gamer which enjoys looking like an idiot waving a remote around. I've had no problems with the sensor bar, but it depends where you put it.

I was hesatating in getting a wii but instead went for my ps3 because I thought to myself... I am not a huge fan on nintendo titles and seeing whats on the wii and how often they will release a title (as first party titles are the only worth while titles on the wii) I can just keep playing it at my friends where I have finished SMG, Metroid, Zelda and am currently playing brawl japanese version (not yet released in europe) at another kids house with an imported wii. Depends if you'll be on it alot or not, I honestly don't see myself putting down all my games for Brawl even tho it's exellent, once Soul calibur and street fighter make their appearance i would just stop playing the wii so it's more of a second console if you like the first party games.

If you don't like first party games then don't get it or if you think you can clock up millions of hours alone on brawl go for it too, because the online imo wasn't all it could be unless you use that annoying friend code >.<

Graphics aren't a good jusdgement of new gens.

It's better to put out the stuff that looks better than the last gen and then put out the stuff that looks better than that later on. The Wii's graphics capabilities more than double the PS2's, and there are some pretty good looking PS2 games. The high amount of bad-graphic games is due Nintendos late anouncement and years of secrecy; That and everyone wants to experiment with the gameplay styles.
Either way, you will have a great time if you get a wii. The PS3 was a bad investment in my oppinion. At least until they release some better games. I guess the blu-ray player wil come in handy if it ever takes off (Kinda unpredictable but it looks like thats our next medium).

I want to play doom and I heard it was on XBOX360 download service. I played it originally on the N64... I wonder if it will ever hit the VC
