Anne Rice
Quote:
Ann Rice has had a change of heart and will write one more Vampire Chronicles book! Just one more.
About four years ago, an atheist Rice found God and was "born again." At that point, she vowed to abandon her sinister stories and write only of the Lord.
Why is she going back on her word?
The Queen of the Damned author justifies her decision by saying the book will have a definite Christian framework and a focus on the theme of redemption.
In other words, it's gonna suck - and not in a good way!
The final vampire novel will again involve the popular character Lestat (a.k.a the hottest vampire in lit) and a fictional organization known as the Talamaska that is responsible for investigating the supernatural. As Rice did, Lestat will be wrestling with the existence of God throughout the story. She says, "I don't see it as a violation of my promise, because I won't be writing about vampires in the same way."
Rice has already written two novels chronicling Jesus Christ's life. She plans to write a third installment in that series before sitting down to pen the final vampire book. So, don't expect to see last Chronicles book for a few years!

i read about half of 'interview with the vampire' before realizing anne rice ruined anything that ever was cool about vampires.
she obviously needs some cash and figures people will buy her book either because they love her work ( ) or for shits and giggles.

Re: Anne Rice
Yeah, I read about that. She lacks writing skills, I can feel myself dieing inside whenever I read her books, or even an extract.

Re: Anne Rice
Her earlier work was met with the great commercial success..the movie sealed the damn deal. The Almighty Buck once again triumphs over authenticity. The shame, the shame.

Re: Anne Rice
It is a shame, I tried to read "Interview" and had to finally throw it out, not just put it down, toss it.

Re: Anne Rice
I liked Interview with a vampire, I don't see anything that would lessen it. I must say that I am saddened that she has become a "christian".
My mom read her first christian book and said she liked it. But then agian, my mother was always one of those sheep that liked what they were told to.

Re: Anne Rice
I have to say, I read half of interview with a vampire at a bookstore one day, it wasn't too bad. I can't completely judge because I've read no more than that.
I still nominate Bram as a true vampire genius.

Re: Anne Rice
^The thing with Stoker's Dracula was that it was brilliant..truly brilliant..that is, up to the last 40 pages or so. The chase, blah, wrap it up. I was so disappointed. I loved that book up until the point where he just seemed to want to end it quickly. I would rather that he have just wrote."I am tired of writing this, so, instead of a bad ending, use your imagination".

I read Dracula BEFORE the laser removal treatments.....
Either way..
Rice should give it a rest..She must have blown through her cash like a lottery winner and is now dipping back into the well of sell out commercial artists who bastardize integrity in literature.
