Is it just me or shoud this be a slam dunk for the US to shut the **** up about Iran. The President of Iran is a total whacko, but, that being said, NO NUKES.

They are still gunning for Iran. US Intelligence (somewhat of an oxymoron these days) has uncovered their faux paus and ADMITS that the US was wrong and that Iran had indeed stopped their program four years ago.
A smart person owns up to a mistake and makes necessary amends if at all possible. At least this was uncovered before over 50,000 Iranians died , their leader was killed and thier infastructure was destroyed by Western missiles.
US intelligence discovered that Israel had completed it's nuclear program in 1963 and still ignores it. I think they can go on ignoring that Iran doesn't have one for a little while longer.
But as you well know, the US always give Israel a big old pass on EVERYTHING. Our alliance with that nation has caused us more grief than any other on the planet. Amazing since it has only been recognized as a seperate state since it's 1948 "birthday".
Also, Iran discontinued their program in 2003, so it is not a matter of ignoring anything, it simply is not there.

BRUSSELS, Belgium(AP) Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday the United States would continue along a two-track strategy to deal with Iran, pressing for new sanctions and demanding Tehran come clean about its nuclear program while offering talks to sweeten the deal. But Russia ignored her calls to punish Iran.
Despite strong support from NATO allies in the wake of a new U.S. intelligence report that concludes Iran actually stopped atomic weapons development in 2003, the top U.S. diplomat was unable to persuade Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the urgency of fresh sanctions.
Rice said her talks with Lavrov were "an extension of other conversations we have had," suggesting the two didn't see eye to eye.
"So it was a continuation of that discussion and a recommitment to our two-track approach," Rice said at a news conference, referring to sanctions and diplomacy.
Rice was explaining the U.S. reevaluation of the Iranian threat during annual meetings at NATO's Belgium headquarters. She also spent two days here galvanizing support for a U.S.-led drive for a third, tougher set of U.N. Security Council sanctions on the clerical regime. The sanctions are meant to force Iran to roll back elements of a nuclear program it claims is peaceful but that the United States and its allies have said could lead to a bomb.
The latest U.S. intelligence assessment appears to undermine the Bush administration's claim that Iran is driving toward a bomb and thus poses an urgent threat. Rice and other U.S. officials insist that Iran remains a danger and they note that it could restart a shelved program using technology and materials it is still amassing.

Well, I'm not going to touch that with a 20ft barge pole but the US should at least admit that it's breaking it's own law by giving aid to a country which has nuclear weapons but isn't allowed to. Either change the law or stop giving aid. The whole thing in Israel just make the Iranian situation look that much more ridiculous.

I could not agree with you more Tim.
And I will say it..Our continued and blind support for Israel is ridiculous (to say the least). Initially, I thought it was to bow to the Jewish vote, but, interestingly enough, there are as many if not more Islamic citizens in the US than Jewish ones. I support the right of Israel to exist, but, that being said, I also am in favor of a FREE PALESTINE. SO MANY FORGET THAT THEY WERE ACTUALLY LIVING THERE AND BOOTED OUT DUE TO WORLD GUILT AFTER THE HOLOCAUST.
Bottom line, we are all renters on this planet..and all this blood shed over a piece of real estate? I can not imagine that God is pleased over that one.

the Israeli nuclear program...u mean the bomb the us sold them in the 60's to keep the neighbours in order?
Iran will be invaded - liberated- sooner rather than later, not because of nukes but because of the price of oil...as soon as it his a magic number it will become economical for the us to invade
No Israel developed their own bomb, the US didn't know until Israel told them.

No He isn't pleased, but not in the way you are thinking. It is an was Israels' land. It does not belong to Palestine and they need to back off. I say for Israel to blow the nation of Palestine away, and help us invade the arab nations.

Yeah...we were "in the know" on that one. It appears that Israel in the only other country that we approve of having nuclear weapons.
