I just picked up Crysis, and I'm not impressed with the fact that your health regenerates..
What's with this godawful trend?
Almost every damn game I've played recently is noobified this way.

Why?

When you're dead, that should be it. Reload your game and try again.
Halo-style personal shields and health regen are for noobs. Period.
I get a kick out of games that are supposedly realistic, yet your health regens. Right...long live realism

Because.

If you had to sit down everytime you got shot and bandage it'd make for a very long game. Not to mention more serious injuries that would require a hospital visit, surgery, bed rest, recovery time, insurance forms, etc etc... lol.

But yeah, I see your point. However, think about what you're doing in the game. If it's 50 to 1 and you got to cross this big open area with guns blazing then chances are you're going to get hit a few times. They're just considering the resting time you spend hiding behind a crate, wall, or dead cow is what allows you to heal. There's going to have to be some stretch of the imagination there. I only know of the Tom Clancy games that are the one shot and dead situation. Although the newer ones you can take a few more hits on the easier level.

Sometimes I'm thinking... "Well, it's a good thing there's a health pack, armor, ammo, and a rocket launcher right here. I bet something hard is coming up!"

Simple: There are games made to be very realistic, and fantasy realistic.

I hate it on games when you have to heal yourself, I always forget to do it

Now if they incorporated a limp system in FPS games that'd be awesome. Say you're shot in the leg and now your movement speed is reduced, and maybe your camera angle has to tilt a little to compensate. If you're badly injured when you look down the scope it sways a bit more than normal.

on dead rising aren't you affected by injuries?

There are many games with both types of healing.

Just about all RPG's and survival horrors are not auto heal.

Most FPS games are auto though, because the style of run gun, duck cover doesn't have much time, or patience for self healing with med packs and such.

I know where your coming from but if you feel its to easy, crank the difficulty up mate.

The game black does pretty well with healing. When youre about to die it goes into slow motion for a few minutes until your character gets his bearings. and on the harder difficulties, you can only find health every once in a while. on easy you have health packs to carry around, and every other baddie has a health pack for ya

If your to scared to summon a demon, summon a angel, me.

They should have you wearing an armor that will keep you from getting hurt for a time until you get shot at enough. Then the armor fails, and you only can take a few shots before you have to lick your wounds, or die.

Some games I don't mind, Some I do. I enjoyed Crysis... Alot! CoD4 also has health regen which was cool, shadow of the colossus, gears of war, etc... But then again, either way I don't mind, unless the game is too easy *cough* Ratchet and Clank *cough* *cough* Uncharted *cough* *cough* 60% of the games that are coming out *cough* *dies*

I want games which insane difficulty again ^^ like Ultimate ghosts and goblins, not a game that I can finish with my eyes closed!

I really like Mass Effect and how they do it, recharging shield but depleting health and health packs that can only be used occasionally.

call of duty 4 type healing is good where u take dammage and must seek cover to regen..rather than have to hunt medipacks

its not realistic..but then if a game was too realistic we would be here complaining about the games being to realistic

want realism..join the army...iraq is very real
