Indeed it does. My friend from India had his marriage arranged. He actually loves his wife and they have 2 kids. It is less stringent now he says than it was in his parent's day. He was also 29 when he married. A late bloomer. AS he said.."I doged the bullet for years more than my brothers.".

1. People (both males and females) have been marrying as children or young teens for thousands of years already.

2. If you were raised in a culture where this was normal, you would also find it normal.

3. If you were raised in a culture where this was not normal, you would also find it not normal.

4. Arranged marriages surprisingly quite often work out......even if they haven't ever met face-to-face before.

5. The age of consent in Canada is 14 for sex, and 16 for marriage.

No, I wouldn't sell my teenaged daughter because I live in the modern West but if I had been born in medieval Japan I'd probably do it just like everyone else.

You gotta put things in perspective.......whether or not this particular thing is a joke or not is beside the point.
