Eject problems

My PS2 will not eject, there is a torn ribbon so i figure that as the problem. Can the ribbon be fixed, or could i just buy a fliptop cover and that solve the problem? If the flip top would fix the problem, would it be ok to just cut the top out so I can play it until it the new one gets here? Thanks for any help or advise.

Re: Eject problems

I have a Version 9 it is an older one. The ribbon that is broke is yellow and has about 4 conductors in it. One end plugs to the board and the other goes up and over a silver roller in the disc compartment.

Re: Eject problems

Hmm well I had disk ejecting trouble too, my little sister buggered it  I had to open up the entire playstation and unscrew and then rescrew everything back together. It now works allright, though I woulden't say it is 100%. That is what I did, I'm not saying it is what you should do though.

If you know what is broken, I would do what icemagic said and replace it.

Re: Eject problems

I have the same ribbon problem, except mine is the 70000 series so it opens at the top. As far as I know, the laser ribbon only controls the laser. Your eject problem could be a jam on the front, or possibly a mechanical blockage by the laser ribbon.
