Forum software
I know Ryan ain't currently around to talk about this, but I've just been wondering...
Is there a particular reason we use vBulletin over other available forum software? It's not that I'm not happy with what we've got, in fact this board is better than most others I've seen, but I'm just wondering.
You can easily find an awesome Open Source endeavour, totally free, of software that could very well be better and more easily modded, and comes with more and better features than what we have from the start. I'm specifically thinking of SMF, which is a pretty good one, and one of my favorite boards uses the software, although they don't seem to take full advantage of it from what I can tell.
Switching to something Open Source would probably save Ryan some money, too.
I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm advertising, but I'm just wanting to discuss forum software and...well, part of that is mentioning forum software you think might be good to implement.

Re: Forum software
I understand what your saying, but im sure ryan has a particular reason why he chooses this board. Im not sayin the other board is inferior but there must be a reason why ryan didnt choose it.

Re: Forum software
lets see, i have had other free based forum software and all ways ran into one problem or another. the problem was the lack of mods you could to to the forum or the support for them.
i like the fact the vb has all ways help me when there was any kind of problem.
The hack/mods are getting really easy to install "but i need to upgrade"
Like i said VB is getting really easy to mod/skin and not only that, they look for ways to increase speed and fixed bugs in the software.
and since i did go with VB and paid the 160 price tag and 3/$30 for renewals
i am going to keep it

Well, that's as good a reason as any. XD
Otherwise, I'd say to switch to SMF regardless of the other reasons. It's a project worked on by a rather large team of people.
It's a good idea to stick with something you spent money on, though.
