Smokey vs. Proboards..
I dont know what it is, but I have sort of a allergic reaction to Proboards. I know its a good starter board and all, but, damn, they just look the same, and you cant do anything with them.
Some people wont join Proboards. That's me. And I dont do ezboards either.

I got a Invision 1.2, so I consider myself lucky.
BTW I had an Invisionfree, and I couldnt do much with it.

IMO, Invision boards are nothing but trouble and constant errors, Phpbb is a step up from Invision, but the real beauty of course is vbulletin....ahhhh

the best free stuff is phpbb, I may try putting one together some day, I'm probably going to quit some of the other sites I visit.
I'll keep coming here though, I love forums when they're starting out, so much less *****ing from people.

xmb is good, too. But they need to come up with a more coherent interface and a better loading proceedure.

Nothing really, VBulletin and PHPbb are so much alike that if you skin PHPbb and put enough hacks in, you practically get Vbulletin.
Vbulletin just has that tiny edge over it.
Invision just plain old sucks.
