Final Fantasy 9 Review
Final Fantasy 9
Graphics 10
Sound 10
Game play 10
Story 10
Length 10
These scores apply to when Final Fantasy 9 was first released.
Final Fantasy 9, my favorite Final Fantasy of all time. Released for PS1 in 2000, around the same time as ps2. Final Fantasy 9 didn’t sell as well as the past Final Fantasy such as 7 & 8 but the ps2 can be partly to blame for that. Be prepared for an intense adventure because this is one you won’t forget.
The game starts off on a mist powered air ship. Your name is Zidaine and your part of a group of bandits called Tantalus. You plan on abducting the princess of the Alexandria but all goes horribly wrong when the queen stops you in your trails. Well, that’s the first half an hour of the game (if you’re rushing that is). Every bend, every path threes a new twist to the story, much like FF7 & 8.
As for game play the game can be criticized because of the slow ATB system witch is slower than the ATB in previous Final Fantasies, well my opinion is oh well. Although it’s slow, every thing fits much nicer. Much more skills to learn and the support ability system gives you decisions to make on what abilities will help you out in your next battle. Another thing is the vast world to explore, it seems endless, and has endless possibilities and places to go. Many sub quests in each city, your never without stuff to do.
Overall it is sad that Final Fantasy 9 has never become as popular is the former FF games but still this game is a great game and should be played by all Final Fantasy fans. You could always be like me, and pass the game about 15 times before you get sick of it.

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Review
Final Fantasy 9, suits the name final fantasy best out of all the final fantasys. I found the final fantasy 9 cities to be more interesting, every city was unique and different.

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Review
I agree FF9 was one of my favs. I think FF10 was my all time favorite. I think the voice acting added alot to the gameplay and gave you more insight into the characters. Nice review Ice, the only thing I would change is the gameplay would get a 9, since it does not suit all RPG players. The ATB system was fine with me as it was for many other players, but I heard my fair share of compalints about it too.

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Review
Yeah maybe, the atb was a bit too slow in ff9, most of the battle you were sitting there waiting for the bar to fill, but why i gave it a 10 was i thought, learning abilities from a weapon suited it perfect, and having a support abilities was good. Also the characters where all unique, unlike previouse games where there all basicly the same. Still a lot of improvement to be made tho.
