Rush Hour 3

New Line has set plans for the third film in the Rush Hour action-comedy franchise in motion. The studio announced today that they've reached agreements with stars Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan to reprise their roles, and signed director Brett Ratner to return for the next installment. Scribe Jeff Nathanson is also back on screenwriting duty.

According to a press release issued by the studio today, the film will go into production later this year with a big-screen release planned for 2007 -- we're guessing summertime.

Tucker and Chan will once again play LAPD detective James Carter and Chinese Chief Inspector Lee in the film. The action this time will take place in Paris where the duo goes up against a wing of the Chinese organized crime family, the Triads.

"We are thrilled to team up with Chris, Jackie and Brett again to bring another installment of this entertaining franchise to life," says New Line's Toby Emmerich. "The first two Rush Hour films have become pop culture classics, and we are confident that the third one will deliver the trademark mix of great action and big laughs that made the previous films so successful."

In a recent interview with us, Ratner, who is currently prepping X-Men: The Last Stand for theatrical release, revealed that he hopes to start shooting the movie in August. He set the story up like this: "Well, in the first one, Jackie [Chan] was in LA; he was the fish out of water. In the second one, Chris [Tucker] went to Hong Kong. In this one, they're both going to Paris. So they're both gonna be the fish out of water; they're both not going to speak the language."

Well i've known about Rush Hour 3 for almost 3 years now. But now that its actually in production, i can't wait. 2nd film a let down? I thought it was great, not as good as the first though.

I enjoyed the first 2 films but I reckon the 3rd won't be very original.

I think they have only just started shooting, according to IMDB... summer 2006.

who knows if it is going to be good. it might, i like the first two movies they did. lots of action and humor in both.
if they keep that up then the movie should be good, not saying that it will out do the first...cause face it how many movies are better then the first.

The new Rush Hour 3 might be good as the other two Rush Hour movies. I can't wait for the preview of it.

I will looking forward to this next year, i hope this could be very good as the last two but i think it might go downhill (hope not).
