Second Sight a movie interactive game

Totally love this game best i,ve played

In A World Gone Mad 2thumbs

I'd invite you to step into the world of John Vattic, but what kind of host would beckon guests into a scenario where they suffer from amnesia, have been beaten horribly and have to crawl out of a technologically advanced asylum? Not only that, but Vattic soon realizes he's got an unexpected batch of psionic powers. Telekinesis, bursts of psionic force, and even self-healing are all suddenly everyday skills.

The story leaps back and forth in time, teasing players with new mental powers and problems in the present, then exploring the past to figure out what happened. It's a great tale, and one of the more interesting to grace a recent game. Some of the dialogue is pretty heavy on the cheese, but the voice acting is generally not bad. I won't spoil anything, but the playable backstory involves a small military investigation into a mystic deep in Russia.

The Mind Is A Terrible Thing to Waste

Obviously, the biggest selling point is the game's power set. Using psionics seems complex at first, but quickly becomes routine. Select a power with the D-pad, then pull the left trigger to highlight possible targets and pull the right trigger to activate. The right stick selects between targets, and can also manipulate powers. Pick up a barrel with telekinesis, then use the right stick to throw it at a hapless scientist. The target selection is a bit clunky, but doesn't hamper your work in the long run.

Second Sight may have the whole psi-powers thing sewn up, but it's not afraid to pick up a pistol when the chips are down. The same streamlined targeting interface that makes mental powers so powerful works for firearms, as well. Equip a gun (by tapping up or down on the D-pad) then proceed as if using psi powers. The one difference is the zoom function, which is really quite well done. When targeting with the sniper rifle, for example, a small inset window pops up to show the target close up, but your view still encompasses what's going on in the big picture to facilitate target switching. As sniping goes, the game feels great.

More Ballistics Than Brains

The only downside to all that is there's perhaps too much gun combat. In fact, Second Sight feels like it was designed to be a shooter first, and the psionics came later. The many powers are cool as hell, and they work well despite the occasionally dodgy targeting, but mastering them isn't quite essential since there's always a pistol to fall back on. And since the aiming system can be tweaked to reap head shots, using a firearm doesn't seem like a bad idea -- except, of course, for the fact that there's all those cool mental powers sitting on the shelf.

Second Sight casts players in the role of John Vattic, an amnesiac who's nonetheless endowed with awesome mental abilities. How he's acquired those abilities and what Vattic has to do with a brutal military mission in Siberia is the onus of the story that drives Second Sight.
Developed by Free Radical, whose previous work on TimeSplitters and previously the N64 hit GoldenEye before departing from Rare, this action/adventure game translates the team's FPS talents to a third-person game with intense shooting action the ability to harness paranormal psychic abilities.
