I haven't played too many RPGs, but I'd say Tales of Symphonia is the best one I've played. Paper Mario 2 and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance are good too.

ff series was awsome (most of them), right now into titan quest - there are a bout 1 million combo of items, they should extend gameplay luv to verse friends in battle arena

I like his list... minus hack series, scurge, and TOS (OK but not great), and I would add Lufia 2 for SNES, Star Ocean The Second Story for PS1, and FFX for the PS2
Oh, and SOM for snes (thats where TOS based it's story from)
