closing old threads
Hi Mods - a quick question
Why do you close old threads that have recently been revived? What difference does it make that the original question was maybe a year ago?

Re: closing old threads
I close them because they are boring.....mainly the intro threads........Do you have a problem with that?
If you care to, open a thread of your own.......similar to the one that was closed, you may have something to add....

What's the point in duplicating a thread like that? Why not leave the old one open?

Re: closing old threads
the information may be outdated?
the lost of interess in a thread is not unusual. There is a reason why we do now talk about the new features of Windows98 or the great graphics in GTA2. outdated, un-important and uninteresting threads should not be revived, since you (not specific you, kubit) are the only one who is interested in it.

Re: closing old threads
That's fair enough Kyatto, I agree totally.
But I was referring to more general threads, specifically "What is your favourite Star Wars game".
This is a thread that was started 2 years ago and answered a few weeks ago. It was then promptly locked by a mod, for no reason other than that it was 2 years old. The question is still as relevant as it was back then and it caught my eye and I was gonna reply, but couldn't.
Just thought it weird for a mod to do that.

Re: closing old threads
Some threads are not seen by one or more mods, so it might even take a few weeks before one is locked. this is very, very very rare, but it is possible.
We're all different mods with different ideas on good and bad. I see Blondi keeping a thread open, and i see Steve closing one. I see Lord Farshad posting in a thread and doing nothing, which i would like to close. And vice versa ofcourse.
We're all different, and it might happen that we do not spot a thread which someone else revived.
It's not an assault on you, or any other who revived a thread. We are not mad at anyone who revives a thread. We are doing a job according to rules.
You have asked a correct question, Kubit.
I hope you've got a satisfying answer! ;)

Re: closing old threads
then don't read my (useless) long (in dutch) post in the "how to create my own ragnarok"-topic, where i explain why someone shouldn't ask desperatly and on a demanding voice to create a ragnarok-server for them.
I'm here to help. We all are here to help each other.

Re: closing old threads
Personally I'm not bothered what thread you post in.
The only reason I would close a thread or delete a post would be if its spam or contains pointless info.

Re: closing old threads
I dont think a thread should be closed unless it turns intos spamming or flamming.
Ive seen so many threads closed that i recon should have stayed open, whats wrong with adding important information to an old topic.
